In the early 90s when the first satellite TV system equipment appeared on the market, only people with good financial means could afford buying them. Home dishes were often labeled as an expensive luxury that occupied half the roof or yard and didn't work that great either. Very much the opposite of cable TV, satellite broadcasting remained out of reach for a long time. Presently, you can see nice small dishes perched on most rooftops, and this happens not only in urban areas, but in distant country locations where cable companies cannot reach. Movies, sporting events and news from around the world lure the user to install a satellite TV system for the entire family.
There are however cases when the house specificity prevents the installation of a satellite TV system. Thus, houses without a view of the southern sky have little or no reception signal at all, and home owners have to go for a cable service instead of a satellite TV system. If the dish cannot be mounted on the roof, the installation in the backyard could be a solution. It is wise to test the home for satellite TV system compatibility before subscribing to provider, the company's employees will most often help you with the checking process.
Then, the mounting area for the satellite TV system has to meet some conditions. Though, it is possible to receive the signal through windows, the general recommendation is to locate the dish outside on roofs, chimneys or balconies. The mounting area doesn't have to be too large, since modern antennas are not more than twenty inches wide. There could be mounting restrictions in the case of renters, as they can use only the areas that fall under the regulations of the renting contract and no common spaces like the roof deck will do for the matter.
Wiring makes another issue often overlooked in the installation of a satellite TV system. You need coaxial cable outlets in the TV area, and here a good word of advice says that you can use either the house coaxial system or the wiring of former cable television. If any of the above matches your case, then you may be spared the trouble of specific wiring for the satellite TV system. In case you do not meet this requirement, it is good to know that the wiring falls into your responsibility as the service provider mentions it as a must-have.

how do i hook up my wii to my lcd tv that has a satellite coaxial directly hooked to it and a dvd surround?
I bought a rf modulator and still can't figure out how to get my WII going. The satellite picture comes on and so does the dvd, but the wii will not. Someone PLEASE help!
Answer:
You shouldn't need an RF modulator for that TV. You should just need to look for the RCA inputs, they're either on the bottom or the side of the TV. They'll be red, white and yellow. They might also have red, green and blue in addition to the others, you only use the red white and yellow though for the Wii.
If you can't find them on the TV then just hook it up the the same jacks I mentioned for the TV but find them on your DVD player.
If you really want to use the RF modulator you just need to unscrew the coax on the TV that comes from the cablebox/DVD player and screw RF modulator's coax into the TV. Then plug the RCA's into the RF modulator. That is unless you've got an ancient RF modulator and it doesn't have RCA jacks. If that's the case it will just have two screws on the back. If that's what you've got, throw it out. Nothing's used that old wire technology in 20 years, even then it was just for antennas.
Now to get to them, if you hooked it up to the TV, turn on the Wii and change the input on the TV until you see the Wii. If you've hooked it up to the DVD player, turn on the Wii and the DVD player. Change the input on the TV until you see the DVD player screen, now change the input on the DVD player until you see the Wii.
