How do I get my satellite dish removed?
Hey there, I am finally moving out of my rented house and the landlady has (quite reasonably) asked me to take down a DirectTV satellite dish on the roof that I had installed a 3-4 years ago but disconnected my service after the first year.
If I were to go up on the roof and try to remove it myself would it be relatively easy (I'm thinking just unscrewing a few bolts and cutting a cable)? Alternatively, is DirectTV obliged to do anything about it?

Unless you particularly want to remove it you legally dont have to, but you may want to for it sounds your landlord is reasonable. When direct tv installs a house mounted dish(or thier independent contractors) by law they have to receive written or oral permission from the house owner before they can install it on the building itself. Good luck..direct tv uses mostly hired out sub contractors to install these dishes..and once authorized to install it by thier contract they are not liable to remove it.. When I moved in this house the guy that lived here had to move in a hurry..for some sterange reason..I personally didnt know him...He left 4 tvs(yes 4) here, all with a direct tv receiver on each one, the renote controls..not to mention other items unrelated to this posting...but direct tv wouldn't even pick them up when I called them..they wanted me to ship them to them ..lol..No way Iam going to pay to send them thier stuff...I trashed them..anyway..Actually...the landlord had to approve this instilation one way or another..and legally..you do not have to remove this dish..and they cannot hold your security deposit over it..but if ya just wanna be nice and remove it....you can..but then ..if the holes aren't sealed properly after removing it..then you are liable for any leaks and damage they may cause...If you simply leave it there..you have no liability..the landlord had to agree to have it there to start with..
