Things to Be Aware Of When Installing Your New Satellite Dish
If you are one of those who would like a few extra channels to view on your television then the best option would be to get yourself satellite television. If you are looking to save on installation costs then it is possible to do the installation yourself. Installing your own satellite dish is as easy as it sounds. However there are a few important aspects that you need to take care of before you being installing your new satellite dish.
It is important to install the dish correctly and generally facing the southern sky where the satellites are based. This ensures that there is direct and uninterrupted reception from the satellites. Also when installing you need to make sure that the Line of Sight is clear. If there are any obstacles or hindrances in the LOS then your reception will not be clear enough. It is important to know of these details as this will only avoid any other kind of complication that could happen in the near future. If not you will only end up re-installing the equipment once again and this is painstaking very time consuming and frustrating as well.
Here are a few things you need to be completely aware of if you've already made up your mind to install your new satellite dish
Site of Installation – It is important to choose the site where you intend installing the satellite dish. Before you do so you will also need to make sure that you have a permit just incase it's a building you live in. make sure that the site you choose has a clear site so that your dish will receive uninterrupted reception from the satellites. There should be no trees, buildings etc causing an obstruction. You also need to make sure that it is easy to reach the satellite dish and there are no cables or electric lines anywhere near it. This will make it easy to reach incase you need to monitor or repair it.
Right equipment – The satellite dish, antenna and the coaxial cables are the three parts that you need to install. These need to be connected to your receiver which is connected to your television. The distance between the dish and the antenna should be minimal from your television, and the cable should be long enough to reach the antenna and the other end to where the television set is. A few other tools needs are drill; screws that will help you get the satellite secured in the right place.
Right direction – It is important that your antenna points to the right direction. If at all you align it wrongly you will not get any reception. The kit generally includes a compass which is essential to make sure that you are pointing the dish in the right angle or direction.
