There should be no trees, buildings etc causing an obstruction. You also need to make sure that it is easy to reach the satellite dish and there are no cables or electric lines anywhere near it. This will make it easy to reach incase you need to monitor or repair it.
Right equipment – The satellite dish, antenna and the coaxial cables are the three parts that you need to install. These need to be connected to your receiver which is connected to your television. The distance between the dish and the antenna should be minimal from your television, and the cable should be long enough to reach the antenna and the other end to where the television set is. A few other tools needs are drill; screws that will help you get the satellite secured in the right place.
Right direction – It is important that your antenna points to the right direction. If at all you align it wrongly you will not get any reception. The kit generally includes a compass which is essential to make sure that you are pointing the dish in the right angle or direction.
