The Current Modern World of Digital Versatile Disc Systems
Digital Versatile Disc recorders are capable of being used with a digital television to tape your desired language programmes and motion pictures in addition to see pre-recorded gardening programmes. Good image and sound quality, however the video recording facility makes them noticeably dearer than Digital Versatile Disc players & besides they are also harder to use than VCRs. The range of recordable configurations available presently is likely also add to the confusion.
Having the right connections between your Digital Versatile Disc recorder & your television and tape recorder can definitely make a significant dissimilarity to the quality of the sound and picture. Amazing deals on Panasonic DVD Recorder at Sound and Vision!
These are the DVD connections to think about:
S-video connection: This is the next best thing to component video & is an option on all DVD Players that don't include component output and also TVs that don't have component input. You may well require another cable nevertheless the picture difference should be certainly worth it.
SCART leads: A traditional form of DVD connection used in the United Kingdom is the SCART lead. This carries both sound & image signals. SCART connections are mainly found on Digital Versatile Disc players in addition to tellies. Gold coated SCART leads offer an improved connection. A SCART connection will without doubt give you a significantly improved picture than S-Video will and is near to component standard. SCART cables are not usually included inside players. You may possibly be expected to shell out around £25.
Audio connectors: Digital Versatile Disc players, principally the more luxurious products, are traditionally likely to have a significant number of audio outputs. Outputs are expected to incorporate phono, digital coaxial & digital optical. If you are trying to connect to a different hi fi system this could be a very important trait.
Progressive scan is the most recent catchphrase in the Digital Versatile Disc recorder business and although considerably more top of the range recorders include it, it can not really be used except if you have a digital telly. With it your picture can be refreshed 60 times 60 p/s which makes for an astonishing roughly flicker free image and is far better to anything that is provided by the several interlaced scanning products.

Frequently Asked Questions...
does using a component video y cable affect quality?
i want to connect 2 tvs close to each other to one cable box. does using a y adapter for the component cable affect quality?
or is it better to connect one through component and the other through hdmi/s-video? thanks!
Answer:
You cannot do that.
Video signals need to see a uniform 75 ohm path to the one TV. A "Y" adapter on the analog cables will mess this up.
You can try using both component and HDMI, but my cable box started throwing HDCP errors when I tried this and down-graded the component output to 480 as a copy protection issue.
