Onkyo TX-NR609 7.2 Channel Network, Great AV Receiver For The Great Price
I bought this as a pre-order item when I saw the various pre-release video reviews of it. I'm glad I did so. It does everything I want per package and the network integration is fantastic. If I have one complaint, it's that the receiver doesn't always let you step out of Setup mode directly back into jogging mode. You often have to turn a Onkyo TX-NR609 7.2 Channel Network off then back on once you've changed certain things (like going through the Audyssey setup). It would also have been nice as a way to reroute the unused (in my court case at least) rear high channels to cart front channel sound to an unpowered subwoofer. But, unless I'm missing something, you cannot.
Don’t spend more than you have to! We already done the research for you.

And as others have pointed released, HDMI pass-through is not setup by default. You have to turn it for (I've set mine to Auto).
The USB input is great for me since I don't have the iPod but do have several UNIVERSAL SERIES BUS drives and USB players.
Finally, the networking feature successful and eliminates one extra route to the sound. Yeah, you can run network stuff using a Blu-Ray player but that adds one additional remote control to the stack.
Which means that all-in-all, I'm very happy with it this box. Time will tell how well it stands up.
HDMI out from Comcast Motorola DCX-3400 DVR (their latest generation) cannot hold a 16: 9 aspect ratio as well as a 1080i HD output in settings. (Kept reverting to make sure you 4: 3 and 480i in my best Sony HD TV.
Same thing occurred while i replaced the Onkyo NR690 with an older Denon model, AVR-591.
Thanks to Denon tech support along with different Comcast support person, the trouble was identified.
Comcast replaced its latest DVR generation with the (two generation old) DCX-3416 Motorola DVR and the issue was resolved with the Denon. I suppose the Onkyo unit would have also worked with the older DVR.
Too bad Onkyo tech support was unacquainted with the issue (as was the first Comcast contact) to make sure that I had no alternative but to go back it. Onkyo loses one star for tech support scarcity of issue awareness. (Benefit of the doubt shows the unit four stars. E. g. I like the setting menu better than the one which came with the Denon.
