New Home Solar Panel Efficiency Breakthroughs
Many homeowners can save a lot of money each year by using a solar power system to reduce or eliminate their electricity bill. With a properly sized solar panel array, all of their power can be easily generated from sunlight and they will never again have to worry about another electric bill. Some homeowners, though, encounter problems that prevent them from getting the return on investment that they had hoped for. Some of these issues have been overcome in recent years with improvements to the solar power technology and these innovations make these systems the perfect answer for most homeowners. These innovations can be useful whether you are using purchased solar panels or a DIY solar panel.
Their home’s orientation to the sun is probably the largest concern for most homeowners. Homes must have a side that faces south in order for solar panels to operator at peak efficiency. This ensures that the solar panels have a good amount of sun exposure throughout the day, as the sun travels across the sky. In years past, this was a major concern as the older panels had a very specific need for constant sun exposure. If their positioning was even a little bit off, it could have a major impact on the amount of power they could generate
Modern solar panels solve this problem by using more efficient solar cells in their construction. These newer solar cells are not only able to generate larger amounts of power from the same sunlight as older cells, but they can also tolerate the sun hitting them at a more severe angle as well. Because of this, they have a wider tolerance for locations that would not have been good choices for older systems. For installations with less than perfect alignment, these newer solar cells are ideal. These modern solar panels will produce more electricity when there is dimished sunlight, like on cloudy days, and also in these situations that are out of standard alignment with the sun. These newer panels don't have to be rotated during the data to point directly at the sun. So, many people can now do a homebuild solar panel project.
This is much better than older solar panels that needed a large, continuous amount of sunlight to generate electricity. Older panels were inactive early in the morning and late in the afternoon because of this. Even though there was sunlight, they could not produce power because the sunlight was not of a sufficient level to get them started. The newer solar panels can take advantage of these lower levels of sunlight and will produce power proportional to the level of sunlight available. These panels produce maximum electricity when the sun is at peak, but can generate power in proportion to the amount of sunlight, as long as some light is striking the panels. So, these more modern solar panels can produce more average power per day and therefore more total power through the year. The additional power this will provide can add significant savings and allow the homeowner to justify a solar power system for their home.
Among the many ways to increase the resale value of your home, a solar power system is one of the best. Whether the system can provide all the power needs of your house, or simply supplements power from the electric company, any solar power system is sure to significantly increase your home's value. A simple diy solar battery charger is a great way to start.
